Many of us have scars

Many of us have scars

From old injuries or from new surgery. It's not generally known that scars themselves may cause health problems by blocking the body's energy flow. Scarring can in fact restrict circulation, lymph, and nerve supply to an area.

BodyTalk and Scars

face lifts   knee surgery   hysterectomy   back surgery   accidents   rhinoplasty   burns   breast implants   hip replacements

The BodyTalk System™ is an energy-medicine approach to scar therapy. By releasing tight connective tissue and traumatic memories stored in the tissue around scars, BodyTalk produces immediate results. BodyTalk is effective, safe, and non-surgical. If you have a herniated disc, migraine, chronic cough, abnormal liver test results, incontinence, constipation, prolapsed bladder or uterus, or thyroid imbalance, among other conditions, scars could be a causal or contributing factor. BodyTalk can help.

Scar tissue is connective tissue that helps the body to mend an injury. It is a healing mechanism of the body: a framework while the injury is healing, holding structures together like glue. The new connective tissue grows around the scar, eventually replacing it entirely with new skin.

If connective tissue injury heals incorrectly it can:

  • Decrease Range of Movement
  • Compromise Organs & Endocrines
  • Inhibit Nerve Supply & Circulation
  • Reduce Muscle Strength

Because connective tissue is continuous, if one area of the body becomes affected by any of the above, it can influence the entire body adversely.

A health scar usually feels soft and flexible and is barely visible.
An unhealthy scar, in comparison, can be thicker, tighter, shiny, wide, and/or raised. It can be numb, itchy, or tender to the touch, even after many years. In color it can appear purple or bluish, or redder than the skin around it. Internal scars, known as adhesions, can cause such serious problems as a blockage in the intestines or a prolapse of the bladder.

Scars have a profound effect on the flow of acupuncture meridians. Imagine a garden hose. The water runs straight through a hose, but if you put a kink in the hose, the water will slow to a trickle from this point on. The same thing can happen with meridians (energy pathways) in the body near and around scars. When flow through a meridian is interrupted by a scar, nerve supply and circulation above or below the scar, and to all areas governed by that meridian, will become weaker.

To resume energy flow through an area of dense scar tissue, and therefore nerve supply and blood circulation, BodyTalk uses a technique called "bridging." It's just like removing a kink in a garden hose.

This technique, rooted in traditional acupuncture and manual tissue release work, was further developed by Dr. John Veltheim, founder of BodyTalk, to become a non-invasive and safe therapy, with immediate results. When more energy is flowing to the area, the scar fades, and tenderness and discoloration go away.

Emotional charge around a scar or event of the injury is released using other BodyTalk techniques, such as the Active Memory Technique. In combination with bridging the scar, the results are especially effective and permanent.

Jim, 29:

Jim came to BodyTalk for his chronic cough. On certain acupuncture points along the forearm (on the Lung and Large Intestine Meridians) he had four deep scars, the result of a knife fight when he was 17 years old. Two years after the fight, the cough developed into the chronic condition that lasted for 10 years. He had one BodyTalk session addressing the scars and the cough was gone.

Carl, 30:
Carl, a construction worker, slipped on a steel pipe, spearing his sphincter and colon. After several surgeries he developed calcified adhesions, first at the colon then further up at the duodenum. He was fed intravenously and a colostomy bag was put in place. The hospital sent him home with no hope of his system ever being able to recover and work on its own. After his first two BodyTalk sessions, he developed diarrhea (a natural cleansing process). After his third session his body literally ejected the tube from his neck. After the fifth session, his doctors couldn't even find the spot where the blockage had been. All his functions returned to normal.
